kwataverse is an app and a handful of servers on a public network nobody owns. These terms are short because there is not much between us: you hold your keys, you hold your money, and we sell a few things in the open.

What kwataverse is

An app on your phone, a website, and some optional servers: a relay that passes messages, a media server that holds photos, and an index that publishes what has been bought. The network itself is public. Other people run relays too, and anyone can.

If our company disappeared tonight, the app would keep working on other people's relays. That is on purpose, and it is the honest measure of how much of this is ours.

You hold everything that matters

Your money is yours alone. It lives in a purse on your phone, held by your backup words. Nobody at kwataverse can see it, move it, freeze it or recover it for you — not if you lose your phone, not if you lose your words, not if you ask us to.

You are responsible for your backup words and your phone. We cannot undo a payment, reverse a mistake, or get money back from somebody who took it.

What we sell, and what we never take

We sell a small list of things, each at a published price: a name, a labelled promoted slot, storage above the free allowance, an assistant call, Pro, extra time for a status on the kwata, and a small visible share of very large gifts.

Every one is bought by paying pay@kwataverse.com with a tag saying what it is, and every one leaves a public receipt. They are all on our ledger page.

We never take a cut of a payment between two people. We never hold anybody's money. A tip goes from one purse to another and we are not in it.

Money buys reach and never trust. Promoted slots are labelled as promoted, capped at three per neighbourhood per day, and priced in public. Reputation is receipts: it cannot be bought from us at any price.

Refunds

A refund is a payment back to you with a tag naming the receipt it refunds, on the same rail, in public. If you paid for a name somebody else had already bought, or paid too little for what you asked for, that is what happens.

If something you bought did not arrive, write to support@kwataverse.com with the receipt.

Trades between people are between those people

When you buy something from a seller here, your contract is with that seller. We are not the seller, not an escrow, not a courier, and not a guarantor.

The market gives you better tools than trust: a price in public, a receipt for every payment, and a history on the seller's stall that nobody can fake. Use them. An arbiter or a rider is a neighbour taking a role and being paid for it, not a service we provide.

What you post, and what we will not do about it

What you post is yours. You keep it, and you keep the right to it. By posting you send it to public relays, so you are giving the whole network permission to store and pass it on, because that is the only way it reaches anyone.

We have no admin power over content on the network. We cannot take down somebody else's post from relays we do not run, and we are not going to build a machine that decides what is allowed.

What we do run has a published write policy: our relay and our media server. We will refuse or remove things there — illegal material above all — and that decision applies to our servers only. Hiding and reporting are tools in your hands, and anyone who dislikes our policy can run their own relay.

Using it honestly

Do not use kwataverse to break the law where you are, to sell what you may not sell, to defraud a neighbour, or to publish material that harms someone.

Speech beyond your own statuses costs a small payment or a little work from your phone, on purpose, because that is what keeps a market readable without a moderator.

What you owe in tax on what you earn here is between you and your government. We do not withhold, report or advise.

Nothing here lasts forever, by design

A status lives hours, not days, and the kwata closes each night. A listing stays on the seller's stall for thirty days. We do not promise to keep anything alive, and the network is not a backup of your photos.

The app is in beta. Things will break, prices and features will change, and a server may be down when you need it. When something is not ready, we say it is not ready rather than showing you a button that does nothing.

The parts a lawyer would write

kwataverse is provided as it is. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, that a relay will answer, or that a payment will confirm. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for money you lose on this network, including money lost to your own lost words, a mistaken payment, or a person who did not deliver.

Nothing here limits any right you have that cannot be limited where you live.

These terms are effective 24 September 2026. When they change, the date changes, and a change that matters is announced in the app.
